Example of Student Work

The Hatchet Survivor Pack

AI-Generated Character Pack: Brian from Gary Paulsen's "Hatchet"

This AI-created character pack brings to life a student's unique interpretation of Brian, the resilient protagonist from Gary Paulsen's Hatchet. Using descriptive language and vivid imagery drawn from the novel, students designed AI-generated survivor packs that reflect Brian's journey and the essential items for wilderness survival.

This creative project was part of a cross-curricular collaboration between Business Education and our ELA department, integrating key lessons on:

  • Ethical AI Use – Understanding responsible and thoughtful application of artificial intelligence tools
  • Computer Graphics – Developing digital design skills through visual storytelling
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration – Connecting literature analysis with real-world technology applications

By merging literary comprehension with emerging technology, students explored how AI can enhance creativity while deepening their understanding of character development and survival themes from the text.
